SeaWorld San Diego Announces March 15 as Opening Date for All-New Jewels of the Sea: The Jellyfish Experience

SeaWorld San Diego is thrilled to announce that its highly anticipated Jewels of the Sea: A Jellyfish Experiencewill officially open on March 15, with Pass Members receiving a preview before the official opening. This exciting new attraction is the first of its kind at any SeaWorld park, offering guests a unique blend of unusual aquaria, diverse jelly species, and immersive media to create a truly one-of-a-kind experience never before encountered. This incredible experience provides the opportunity for in-depth exploration of the unknown world of jellyfish, creatures that have existed since before the age of dinosaurs. Featuring exceptional educational components mixed with immersive fun, these jellyfish habitats allow visitors to learn, touch and encounter these fascinating animals like never before.

This gorgeous journey of discovery takes guests through three unique galleries with several species of jellyfish, including moon, pacific sea nettles and upside-down jellyfish, along with countless share worthy moments for children and adults alike. Highlights include one of the largest jelly cylinders in the country, a walk-through living archway filled with jellyfish and a mesmerizing and fully immersive LED room that brings the wonders of the ocean to life through eight digital chapters of ocean exploration. Each gallery invites visitors to explore the graceful elegance and mystery of these ethereal creatures, offering a unique perspective on their fascinating biology and ocean habitats.

Jewels of the Sea Galleries

Realm of Jellies – A Story of Water and Light -Step into the enchanting Realm of Jellies, where water and light reveal the delicate beauty of jellyfish. Interactive habitats allow guests to get up close, from observing upside-down jellyfish to touching a cascading water globe filled with moon jellies. Discover the fascinating jellyfish life cycle and anatomy and peek behind the scenes at the propagation process. 

The Jellyfish Passage – The Jellyfish Passage invites guests to step through a 10-foot-tall living archway of moon jellies, creating an ethereal, glowing atmosphere. Learn fascinating facts about jellyfish through interactive displays and witness one of the tallest jellyfish aquariums in the nation, reaching 14-feet-tall. With habitats featuring a variety of jellies, the space offers a serene, immersive experience, like walking through an otherworldly ocean.

Medusa Gallery – The Medusa Gallery offers a breathtaking finale to the jellyfish journey. Vibrant LED visuals uniquely transform the space in a 360-degree experience, unmatched by any other jellyfish encounter in the country, immersing guests in ocean depths, bioluminescence and a captivating jellyfish kaleidoscope. View species like comb jellies and sea nettles while panoramic windows offer a stunning view of the various life stages of moon jellies. This final space celebrates the beauty and mystery of ocean life.

The Jewels of the Sea exhibit is not only a beautiful showcase of marine life but also a testament to SeaWorld’s commitment to conservation. SeaWorld San Diego Announces Full Summer Spectacular Concert Series Line-up, Including Soulja Boy, Bow Wow and Fat Joe

Experience iconic R&B, hip-hop and rap hits from the ’90s and early 2000s every Saturday night from June 21 to August 23

SeaWorld San Diego has officially announced its 2025 Summer Spectacular Concert lineup, featuring a star-studded roster of legendary R&B, hip-hop and rap talent from the 90s and early 2000s. The Summer Concert Series, taking place every Saturday night* from June 21 to August 23, will feature performances by iconic artists such as Soulja Boy, Bow Wow, Baby Bash, Waka Flocka Flame, and Ying Yang Twins, bringing the best hits of the era to life. This year, the highly anticipated I Love the 90’s Tour and The Turnt Up Tour join the concert series lineup, bringing multiple performers to the stage from a variety of the most influential names in rap, hip-hop and R&B.

During the Summer Spectacular Concert Series, guests can enjoy an unforgettable night of music at SeaWorld’s Bayside Amphitheater, where the energy will be high and the atmosphere vibrant. With scenic views of the bay as the backdrop, it’s the perfect place to celebrate summer and the sounds that shaped a generation.

Saturday, June 28 | Ying Yang Twins

The Ying Yang Twins, D-Roc and Kaine, rose to fame with hits like “Whistle While You Twurk” and “Salt Shaker.” Known for their platinum album Me & My Brother, they dominated the 2000s with songs like “Wait (The Whisper Song)” and “Halftime.” Today, they continue to tour worldwide, performing for sold-out crowds.

Discover the dynamic duo of Bow Wow and Soulja Boy, two chart-topping rap sensations boasting a collection of iconic hit singles. Saturday, August 2 | I Love the 90’s Tour

The I Love the 90’s Tour invites attendees to kick it back to the trend-setting decade with some of the most iconic, indelible names in rap, hip hop and R&B. Performances will include a line-up of iconic ’90s artists featuring Treach of Naughty by Nature, Rob Base, Color Me Badd and Young MC. The Turnt Up Tour brings together four of hip-hop’s most iconic names: Petey Pablo, Paul Wall, J-Kwon and Twista. This high-energy show will take the audience on a journey through the soundscapes of rap, blending wild party anthems with the smoothest flows of the early 2000s. Audiences can expect to hear classic anthems like “Raise Up,” “Sittin’ Sidewayz,” “Tipsy,” “Slow Jamz” and many more.

Halloween Costume Policy

All guests are welcome to dress up in Halloween costumes. Guests who are ages 13 and older may not wear full face coverings, costume masks, or hoods, and all costumes are subject to the normal dress code for the park. Face painting is not permitted on any guests unless it is done by park face painting artists.

Rides and Attractions for the Whole Family

During the fall season, Sesame Place invites guests to enjoy a full day of excitement with water attractions open through October 27. Splash around in the family-friendly wave pool, float down the lazy river, and let the little ones zoom down slides made just for them. On cooler days, guests can enjoy the heated Big Bird’s Beach wave pool and Big Bird’s Rambling River. In addition to splishy splashy water fun, the park offers dry rides and attractions for all ages, from a child’s first roller coaster and a colorful carousel to an Elmo-themed rocket ship adventure. Sesame Place® San Diego, the only theme park on the West Coast based entirely on the award-winning show Sesame Street, today announced the official opening date of the All-New interactive dining experience, Dine with Elmo & Friends, on May 31 at the All-New Sunny Day Café. The immersive experience allows guests to dine alongside their favorite furry friends and experience exclusive entertainment including singing, dancing, and photo opportunities. Season Pass Members will be the first to experience the All-New Dine with Elmo & Friends.

Dine with Elmo & Friends allows guests to get closer to their favorite furry friends than ever before as they dine alongside them. Dine with Elmo & Friends takes place in the All-New Sunny Day Café, an air-conditioned, indoor dining room on the Sesame Street Neighborhood that can seat up to 160 guests. Each Dine with Elmo & Friends experience is approximately one hour long and includes a tasty buffet-style family meal and exclusive entertainment the whole family will love! 

Reservations for Dine with Elmo and Friends start at just $41.99 for adults and children 10 years and older, and $21.99 for children ages 3 to 9. Children under 3 are free but require a reservation. SeaWorld San Diego Unveils 60th Anniversary Celebration Plans for 2024!

SeaWorld is turning 60 this year, and SeaWorld San Diego has big plans to celebrate all year long, starting on March 21st – 60 years to the day that SeaWorld first opened its gates in San Diego. Plus, for a limited time, guest can purchase Tickets, Fun Cards and Annual Passes for up to 50% off. 

To get the celebration started, SeaWorld San Diego is hosting a 60th Anniversary launch party March 21-24 that will feature:

  • A celebratory cake cutting at park opening with Byron Surrett, Chief Parks Operation Officer. Byron will speak to guests and reflect upon the company’s 60 years. This ceremony will take place each day at 10 a.m., and guests will receive a free cupcake, while supplies last.
  • Special limited-edition food & beverage options, including the return of the beloved Shamu cookie, a blue velvet cake, a 60th Anniversary Burger, 60th Anniversary Donut, specialty cocktails and mocktails, and a special 60th Anniversary IPA in partnership with Mike Hess Brewing. This new beer will be a spin on Mike Hess’s beloved West Coast IPA, with an expansion of the bright citrus, pine, and resin notes and more fruit characteristics.
  • New and exclusive vintage merchandise, including reusable water bottles, plush animals, snow globes, backpacks, notebooks, blankets, t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, a custom Precious Moments collectible, and more.
  • A custom Precious Moments collectible highlighting a memorable moment at SeaWorld titled “Sea a World of Wonder.” This limited-edition figurine will only be available for purchase while supplies last. Precious Moments sculptor Hiko Maeda will be at the park to sign purchased figurines and meet fans on March 21 – 24. Times will vary by day and will be available on the daily park schedule.
  • For the first time in recent years, guests can see Shamu & Crew together again and take a commemorative photo with them. Kids of all ages will love meeting costume characters – Shamu, Coral the Dolphin, Sydney the Shark, Shivers the Polar Bear, Puck the Penguin, and Flip the Sea Lion!

To add more excitement to 2024, the new “Jewels of the Sea: The Jellyfish Experience exhibit” will be opening later this year. The first of its kind for SeaWorld parks, the Jellyfish Experience will be the newest immersive and interactive aquarium at the park.  Guests to the new exhibit will be greeted by a kaleidoscope of colors and shapes in three unique galleries as if diving into the heart of the ocean.  Each of the three galleries will feature a jelly species to discover including Moon Jellyfish, Pacific Sea Nettles, Upside-Down Jellyfish, and Comb Jellies. Mardi Gras is Back at SeaWorld San Diego Starting January 27 with More Authentic Flare, Food and Festivities than Ever Before!

The event, included with park admission, lets the good times roll on select dates through February 25!

SeaWorld San Diego is rolling out the New Orleans flare, food, and festivities with the return of Mardi Gras starting January 27. During the event, guests will feel the vibes of Mardi Gras in the park with an ALL-NEW opening ceremony led by the Mardi Gras King and Queen, a Mardi Gras processional, atmospheric performers, live music, and delicious authentic food and beverage options. The event is included with park admission and will run on weekends through February 25, including Friday, February 16 and Monday, February 19.

“We’re always excited to bring Mardi Gras to the park, and we hope guests are looking forward to seeing the offerings they loved last year return to the park again, along with an all-new opening ceremony featuring a Mardi Gras King and Queen,” said Kira Lange, Vice President of Entertainment at SeaWorld San Diego. “While we might not be in New Orleans, guests can still join the party and dance through the park while enjoying the live music, authentic food & beverages, colorful décor, and exciting atmospheric entertainment.” 

Lively Bourbon Street-Style Entertainment

Guests are cordially invited to join the park’s colorful cast of performers to let the good times roll! They can check the daily schedule to make sure they don’t miss any of the exclusive experiences, event including: 

  • ALL-NEW Mardi Gras Opening and Closing Ceremonies – Guests can join the King and Queen as they kick off and conclude Mardi Gras festivities at the SkyTower Stage each event date. New Orleans-style ceremonies include the SeaWorld Brass Band, Mardi Gras performers, and festive fun.
  • Mardi Gras Processional – Guests are invited to join in and walk with SeaWorld performers and the Mardi Gras brass band! Guests will love dancing through the park pathways to lively music.  
  • Mardi Gras Atmospheric Entertainment – Let the good times roll with performances from stilt-walkers, comedy magicians, hoop performers, and jugglers as they take over SkyTower Lawn.
  • Mardi Gras Performers & Activities – Throughout the day near SkyTower stage, guests can see talented SeaWorld performers as they show off their costumes and lead family-friendly games and activities. While at SkyTower lawn, guests can try their hand at bead toss, have their face painted, and then join the performers for dancing!

Tastes of New Orleans

Mardi Gras isn’t complete without delicious New Orleans-style food and drinks! Guests will be able to enjoy the tastes of the South with a chef-curated specialty menu items created for the event. 

Guests can indulge in classic food dishes including a choice of Fried Shrimp or Roast Beef Po’Boys, Muffulettas, Andouille Sausage and Shrimp Jambalaya, Hush Puppies, and more. A sweet side of Mardi Gras returns with Beignets or guests can opt for Lemon Flavored Mardi Gras Bundt Cake, both pair perfectly with a tasty Café Du Monde Coffee. Drink options will also be aplenty, with a beer trailer and mimosa bar serving Hurricanes, Blue Raspberry French 75, and Purple Haze Abita Brewing Raspberry Lager.

Guests looking to try all these delicious, limited-time food options can purchase a Mardi Gras Food & Beverage Sampler. Guests can choose a 5-item sampler starting at only $40 or take it up a notch and with the 10-item sampler for $60. SeaWorld San Diego Pass Members also get the VIP treatment and can purchase 12 samples for the price of 10.

  • Jewels of the Sea: The Jellyfish Experience: Opening in Spring 2024
    The first of its kind for SeaWorld parks, the Jellyfish Experience will be the newest immersive and interactive aquarium at the park.  Guests to the new exhibit will be greeted by a kaleidoscope of colors and shapes in three unique galleries as if diving into the heart of the ocean.
