Sesame Place® San Diego, the only theme park on the West Coast based entirely on the award-winning show Sesame Streettoday announced the official opening date of the All-New interactive dining experience, Dine with Elmo & Friends, on May 31 at the All-New Sunny Day Café. The immersive experience allows guests to dine alongside their favorite furry friends and experience exclusive entertainment including singing, dancing, and photo opportunities. Season Pass Members will be the first to experience the All-New Dine with Elmo & Friends.

Dine with Elmo & Friends allows guests to get closer to their favorite furry friends than ever before as they dine alongside them. Dine with Elmo & Friends takes place in the All-New Sunny Day Café, an air-conditioned, indoor dining room on the Sesame Street Neighborhood that can seat up to 160 guests. Each Dine with Elmo & Friends experience is approximately one hour long and includes a tasty buffet-style family meal and exclusive entertainment the whole family will love! 

Reservations for Dine with Elmo and Friends start at just $41.99 for adults and children 10 years and older, and $21.99 for children ages 3 to 9. Children under 3 are free but require a reservation. Park admission is required in addition to Dine with Elmo & Friends reservation. It is strongly recommended to make reservations in advance of the park visit.

Sesame Place® San Diego, the only theme park on the West Coast based entirely on the award-winning show Sesame Streetwill celebrate Easter during Elmo’s Eggstravaganza from March 23 to April 7. This family-friendly event, which is included with park admission, will be offered daily and will include scavenger hunts, special storytimes, photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny, and everyone’s favorite furry friends dressed in their Easter best. The park’s water attractions will open for the Spring and Summer seasons beginning on March 23 for guests to enjoy splashy family fun.

Egg-cellent Entertainment During Elmo’s Eggstravaganza

Sesame Place San Diego will be celebrating Easter with a variety of exciting springtime activities for families to enjoy every day from March 23 to April 7! Offerings include:

  • Easter Bunny Photo Opportunities – Guests can meet and take photos with the Easter Bunny during a special photo experience in the park.
  • Golden Egg Hunt – One golden egg will be hidden somewhere in the park each day of Elmo’s Eggstravaganza. The first guest who finds and turns it in at Sesame Souvenirs will win an exclusive prize.

  • My Fuzzy Valentine Weekend – Feb. 10 – 11 – Guests can join a delightful Valentine’s Day celebration where they can make Valentine’s Day cards, enjoy valentine’s treats, and more!
  • Super Grover’s Everyday Heroes Weekend – Feb. 17 – 18 – Celebrate the everyday heroes in the local community during this special weekend! Guests can meet real-life heroes from the neighborhood including police officers and firefighters, enjoy a special Storytime with Super Grover, and dance along at a special dance party!
  • Tango’s Fur-ever Friends Weekend – Feb. 24 – 25 – Guests can join Tango and all her Sesame Street pals to celebrate pets everywhere! There will be a pet adoption event, Tango’s Treat Seek scavenger hunt, and a special dance party.
  • Oscar’s Trash-tastic Weekend – March 2 – 3 – Guests can dive into a trash-tastic weekend hosted by Oscar! The event’s all-new trash-themed games, storytime, and recycling activity will turn any frown upside down.
  • Big Bird Pajama Party Weekend – March 9 – 10 – Grab some cozy jammies for the ultimate pajama party! Guests can shake their tail feathers at a special dance party, hear a special Storytime with Big Bird, and more!
  • Saint Patrick’s Day Celebration & Furry Fest Finale Weekend Bash – March 16 – 17 – Guests can don their favorite greens and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at the park with a St. Patrick’s Day scavenger hunt, a special storytime, and festive snacks! A Very Furry Christmas Brings New and Enhanced Festive Family Fun to Sesame Place San Diego!

New for this holiday season, for the first time families can now enjoy the park during the evening with extended operating hours. All-new Christmas lights, an all-new 24-foot Christmas tree, all-new photos with Santa Claus, and festive holiday décor transform the park into a one-of-a-kind Christmas wonderland for guests to celebrate jolly holiday fun alongside the daily, fun offerings that guests enjoy year-round. Everyone will be excited to take special holiday photos and dance and sing along to their favorite holiday tunes with their furry friends. The family-friendly event will run on select dates Friday, November 10 through Sunday, January 7.

Celebrate the Holidays with All-New Festive Family Fun

A Very Furry Christmas will bring new, family-friendly holiday fun to Sesame Place San Diego! With themed shows, parties, and parades, there’s so many memories for guests of all ages to make this year. 

All-new event offerings for this year’s A Very Furry Christmas include:

  • All-New Christmas Tree & Lighting Ceremony – Guests will be able to enjoy a new 24-foot Christmas tree at the front of the park. The tree will be decorated with lights and ornaments, making it a great spot to take fun family holiday photos! The tree will be lit for the first time in a Grand Illumination Ceremony on November 10, and then will be lit nightly featuring an appearance by a Sesame Street friend.
  • All-New Santa’s Grand Illumination Ceremony – On November 10, the park will light an all-new 24-foot Christmas tree for the first time. This interactive ceremony will include special performances from Jingle Bell the Elf, Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Cookie Monster, and Rosita. Santa Claus will also make a very special appearance to share Christmas joy and holiday cheer with all the park guests!
  • All-New Christmas Lights – New this season, guests will see Sesame Place transformed into a one-of-a-kind Christmas wonderland with thousands of twinkling, colorful lights around the park. 
  • All-New Photos with Santa Claus – On select dates, guests will be able to visit Santa Claus at Sesame Place San Diego for the first time to take holiday photos and share their Christmas wishes!
  • All-New Golden Gift Hunt – Each day from November 10 to December 25, a Golden Gift will be hidden somewhere in the park upon park open! The guest that finds it and turns it in will win a special exclusive prize.

  • Christmas Tree Maze – Kids of all ages can enjoy a fun, festive adventure through the family- friendly Christmas Tree Maze full of holiday décor sure to kickstart Christmas cheer. 
  • Christmas Cookies with Cookie Monster – “C” is for Cookie when guests join Cookie Monster to enjoy his favorite sometimes food! This fun-filled paid upgrade features meet-and-greet opportunities with Cookie Monster and cookies and milk in fun refillable mugs.
  • Missing Mittens Scavenger Hunt – Throughout November, guests can purchase the Missing Mittens Scavenger Hunt map and go on a scavenger hunt throughout the park and find all the missing mittens. Once completed, guests can return the map to receive a Christmas prize!

Viva La Música Returns to SeaWorld San Diego with Non-Stop Live Latin Music, Authentic Cuisine and Family-Friendly Fun!

Viva La Música is back at SeaWorld San Diego bringing vibrant music, delicious cuisine, and culture to the park every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from May 5 to May 21. The music never stops with a fantastic live concert series featuring Grammy award winning artists headlining the event at Bayside Amphitheater, plus ongoing live performances by cultural and local groups throughout the day at Skytower Stage. Between exciting musical performances and the celebration of Latin culture through great food, and festive décor, visitors can fill their day visiting and learning more about amazing animals and riding a variety of family-friendly rides and thrill coasters, plus more!

Sensational Live Latin Musical Performances 

Bayside Amphitheater, SeaWorld’s popular outdoor performance venue, is reopening for the year with an incredible lineup of concerts for guests to enjoy music on select Saturdays and every Sunday evening at 6 p.m. during Viva La Musica. The headliner concert lineup includes:

  • May 13 & 14: La Original Banda el Limón – For over two decades, the 16-member band La Original Banda El Limón has been entertaining audiences with a unique blend of traditional banda sounds and modern musical elements. Guests will experience the infectious rhythms, lively horn sections, and powerful vocals!

In addition, exciting cultural and live performances will take place at SkyTower Lawn during each event day, including:

  • Grupo Folklorico Herencia Mexicana – Experience the passion of Grupo Folklorico Herencia Mexicana as they share the history, traditions and culture of Mexican folklore through the art of music and dance.
  • Mariachi Divas – Enjoy a spirited mix of melodies, ranging from American pop music to Mexican folk songs and traditional tunes—all sung by the all-female Mariachi Divas, a groundbreaking, two-time Grammy® Award-winning musical group.

Sesame Place San Diego Welcomes Its Newest Furry Friend!

Elmo’s Adopted Puppy Tango, to the Neighborhood!

Sesame Place® San Diego, the first theme park on the West Coast based entirely on the award-winning show Sesame Street®, is about to get even furrier. Elmo’s adopted puppy, Tango, will find her fur-ever home at Sesame Place San Diego on Saturday, February 4. The BRAND-NEW floppy-eared, tail wagging puppy will debut at the park as an all-new meet & greet character, where guests will see her for the first time at her welcome ceremony.

A sweet and spirited puppy named after her love of music and dancing, Tango debuted in the 2021 animated special Furry Friends Forever: Elmo Gets a Puppy, in which Elmo finds a stray Tango and adopts her. Tango then joined Sesame Street’s 52nd season in both animated and live-action format. Tango’s arrival at Sesame Place will be celebrated during operating days, every Saturday and Sunday in February, plus Friday, February 17, and Monday, February 20.

  • Tango’s Welcome Ceremony – The park will officially welcome Tango on February 4 at 12:00 p.m. at the Dance Party Stage.
  • Elmo & Tango’s Welcome Day Scavenger Hunt – Guests can search throughout the park for all the items that Elmo needs to take care of Tango. Guests can turn in completed scavenger hunt sheets at Hooper’s Store for their choice of pet-themed prizes: Sesame Place bandanas or tennis balls. Self-guided scavenger hunts run throughout the day while supplies last.
  • Tango’s Treat Seek – Tango’s Treat will be secretly hidden in the park on select dates. The first person to find Tango’s Treat will receive Sesame Street-themed pet prizes from BarkBox.
  • Sesame Street Party Parade – Guests will be able to spot Sesame Place’s newest resident in the daily, award-winning parade. This colorful, energetic parade gets the whole family singing and dancing and features fantastic floats for fans of all ages to enjoy.
  • Meet-and-Greets – Tango will be wagging her tail in delight to take photos and interact with guests on select days. Sesame Place San Diego to Make a Big Splash in 2023 with Two New Attractions

Sesame Place® San Diego, the only theme park on the West Coast based entirely on the award-winning show Sesame Street, will be adding two ALL-NEW attractions in 2023. The Count’s Splash Castle is an ALL-NEW, multi-level water-play attraction and Sunny Day Café is an ALL-NEW, all-day character dining location where guests can enjoy a variety of meals and one-of-a-kind experience with their favorite furry friends. In addition to the exciting new attractions at the park in 2023, guests can enjoy whirling rides, splashy water slides, exciting shows, parades, the interactive Sesame Street Neighborhood, and visits with everyone’s favorite furry friends.

The ALL-NEW Count’s Splash Castle, is a multi-level, interactive water-play attraction that features 111 play elements, including two giant tipping buckets that dump over 1,300 gallons of water combined. There are three exciting water slides, plus soakers, flow pipes, hose jets, spray jets, water shooters, water curtains, tipping troughs, spinning and sliding buckets, and much more! At the ALL-NEW Sunny Day Café, guests can join their favorite furry friends for a dining adventure the whole family will love! SeaWorld San Diego is bringing back New Orleans flare, food, and festivities with the return of Mardi Gras. The excitement of Mardi Gras comes to life with a party vibe full of ALL-NEW live music and performances including a New Orleans Jazz band, Mardi-Gras processional, Louisiana-inspired laser show, plus multiple performers, colorful costumes, and festive decor. Guests can indulge in new and returning authentic menu items including king cake, beignets, and gumbo. The event runs every weekend from January 21 to February 26, plus select dates. ALL-NEW Bourbon Street-Style Entertainment

Guests are cordially invited to join the park’s colorful cast of performers to let the good times roll. SeaWorld will be jumping with upbeat, musical fun during Mardi Gras with the ALL-NEW Mardi Gras-inspired lively processional led by Mardi Gras Madame, Mama, and full of festive Mardi Gras performers, including stilt walkers, dancers, and jugglers. The processional will move around the park, encouraging park partygoers to join along the way and culminate at the Mardi Gras stage. The processional will end, yet the party continues as the crowd will be treated to a rousing song and dance number, “No Bad News.”

The Mardi Gras stage will also showcase performances by an ALL-NEW New Orleans Good Time Jazz Band, performers from the San Diego Circus Center, and a DJ for non-stop rockin’ fun every event day. During the evening hours, guests can walk through the SeaWorld Tunnel of Lights and enjoy an ALL-NEW special laser Louisiana-inspired light show, both filled with traditional Mardi Gras colors. The festival area will also include a face painting booth, ribbons, lights, masks, and more!

Inside Look returns to SeaWorld San Diego from Saturday, January 14 to Monday, January 16 to give guests an inside look at what goes into providing world-class animal care. Through engaging educational opportunities during the three-day event, guests will connect with SeaWorld animal care specialists and hear their personal stories about caring for our animals. Park visitors will also have special access to areas of the park normally not open to the public, including the Rescue Center.

Inside the SeaWorld Rescue Center: Guests will also have the very special opportunity to tour areas of SeaWorld Rescue Center, a back area of the park where the Rescue Team brings hundreds of rescued animals each year for rehabilitation. During this coveted experience, members of the SeaWorld Rescue team will share stories about recent rescues and tour guests through the Rescue Center showing the animal care hospital and rehabilitation areas. In addition, guests will get an up-close look at the rescue truck and inflatable boat used in rescues. 

During the tour, guests will see Freeway, the sea lion rescued in January 2021 from the 94 freeway. Guests will get an “inside look” into Freeway’s everyday care and hear about his rescue and rehabilitation journey.

Inside Orca Encounter: Guests will meet and hear from the dedicated animal care specialists who safeguard the health and well-being of our killer whales. Park guests will view a learning and training session between the orcas and their animal care team to better understand the dynamics of caring for SeaWorld’s largest residents. 

Inside and Underwater at Turtle Reef: At the Turtle Reef exhibit, guests will be able to watch zoological scuba divers interact with the turtles in the reef while educators share information and answer questions. 

Inside Animal Care: In addition to the beloved daily animal presentations, SeaWorld Animal Care Specialists will be hosting special Trainer Talks where guests can learn about animal behaviors, feeding, and husbandry. These 10-minute presentations will be offered daily following Orca Encounter, Dolphin Adventures, and Sea Lion & Otter Spotlight presentations.

Meet Animal Conservation Ambassadors: Guests can learn and see a variety of unique rescued animals during the Feathers, Scales, and Furry Rescue Tails presentation located at Nautilus Amphitheater. This fun and educational presentation shares the story of Conservation Ambassadors, animal care, and rescue. Guests will meet many incredible rescued animals, such as marsupials, primates, and reptiles, and learn about their unique stories. 

Connections with Conservation Partners: Inside Look will spotlight conservation organizations in the local community that SeaWorld partners with as a part of “Inside Look Connections” on Skytower Lawn. Organizations such as Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute, Living Coast Discovery Center, Project Wildlife, as well as SeaWorld Rescue, will have booths where guests can ask questions and learn about their important work. 

To further enhance their Inside Look experience, guests can pick up an Inside Look passport and visit certain Inside Look locations for a special stamp. Guests can also choose to purchase an Inside Look Scavenger Hunt map that encourages people of all ages to learn new animal and park facts and stats by matching stickers with points of interest around the park and redeem completed maps for a very special SeaWorld prize.

World Class Animal Care, Accredited and Regulated by Experts 

SeaWorld Inside Look offers a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes of one of the world’s foremost zoological organizations.  Its team of more than 1,000 animal specialists maintain the highest standards of animal welfare and veterinary care for one the largest zoological collections in the world.   

SeaWorld is regulated by various government authorities focused on animal welfare. For example, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal Plant Health Inspection Service performs routine, unannounced visits to SeaWorld to ensure adherence to federal standards and regulations.  The visits include a review of the physical premises, records, husbandry practices, program of veterinary care, and animal handling procedures, to ensure that SeaWorld meets and/or exceeds the required standard of care.  SeaWorld is also regulated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric (NOAA) National Marine Fisheries, the primary federal agency responsible for the stewardship of living ocean resources and the marine habitats on which they rely.  NOAA enforces guidelines set out in laws such as the Marine Mammal Protection Act and the Endangered Species Act. 

SeaWorld is also accredited by third party organizations including the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) and the Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums (AMMPA).  Achieving and maintaining accreditation from these groups is a rigorous evaluation process in areas that extend beyond the scope of government regulatory agencies.  For example, reviews of social settings, team training, habitat enrichment, medical facility, food and water preparation, guest interactions, education programs and more. SeaWorld has also earned the Humane Certified™ seal from American Humane, the world’s largest certifier of animal welfare.  Reviews and accreditations by these organizations represent the highest standards of care and welfare for specific species.

The commitment of SeaWorld extends beyond the animals in residence. The SeaWorld Rescue team is on call 24×7 to help animals anywhere they are needed.  The team has helped more than 40,000 animals, making it one of the largest marine animal rescue organizations in the world.  

SeaWorld also advances the science of marine animal health through the study of animals in its care, partnerships with leading academic institutions, and withSeaWorld Conservation Fund grants to organizations focused on marine animal rescue and rehabilitation, conservation education, habitat protection and species research.  Since 2003, Fund grants have been made to support 541 different marine-specific conservation projects on all seven continents.

SeaWorld San Diego rings in the end of 2022 with Christmas Celebration fun, fireworks, and more!

  • Enjoy Christmas Celebration at SeaWorld San Diego through January, as well as nightly fireworks through December 31

 SeaWorld San Diego is ringing in the end of the year with exciting fun, festive offerings. Guests can enjoy Christmas Celebration, daily fireworks, Friday Happy Hour specials, and special fun on New Year’s Eve.

Guests can continue feeling festive cheer at SeaWorld’s annual Christmas Celebration, running through January 8. The event includes two all-new holiday theater shows, live reindeer available for viewing, Mrs. Claus’s Christmas Cavalcade, photo opportunities with Santa and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and more. Guests can also enjoy the newly reimagined 320-foot SkyTower Tree of Light, lit to look like a Christmas tree for the first time in the park’s history. Additionally, starting Friday, December 23 through Saturday, December 31, the all-new Christmas Wish fireworks show will occur nightly 10 minutes prior to park close.

Every Friday from 4 p.m. to park close, guests can also enjoy Happy Hour Fridays at Underwater Cantina and High Tide Brews. Every week, a new featured seasonal drink will be offered at Underwater Cantina at a discounted price, and both locations will offer “Brew for $2” 12-ounce draft beers.

For guests looking for New Year’s Eve plans, SeaWorld will be offering a special New Year’s countdown and fireworks show at 9:00 p.m.  After an unforgettable day of exciting shows, amazing animals, and thrilling rides, the park will transform at dusk into an exciting celebration with electrifying lights and music. The park is also offering a Family New Year’s Eve Bash for the first time. The separately-ticketed VIP event includes party hats, Sesame Street friends, food, a champagne toast, live entertainment and a premium fireworks viewing. Tickets must be purchased in advance online.
