GHOST TOWN’S 75TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

In 2016, Knott’s Berry Farm’s Ghost Town will celebrate 75 years of creating lasting memories for countless generations. In preparation for Ghost Town’s Anniversary Celebration, GhostRider, the longest, tallest and fastest wooden roller coaster on the West Coast, will close on September 8 for a comprehensive restoration.

The massive coaster features plunging drops, harrowing turns, and 4,533 ft. of wooden track. Hitting speeds of over 50 miles per hour, and looming 118 ft. over the historic Ghost Town, GhostRider even races outside of the Park, towering over Beach Boulevard. Screamin’ Swing will permanently close on September 8 in preparation for Ghost Town’s 75th anniversary celebration in 2016.

In November, Knott’s will share more plans about how the park will celebrate the 75th anniversary of Ghost Town. #ghosttown75

KNOTT’S BERRY FARM HOSTS COUNTRY SHOWDOWN STATE FINALS
Saturday, August 8 at 7pm in Wagon Camp

Knott’s Berry Farm is proud to announce that it will host the 34th Annual Country Showdown’s California State Finals. The State Final Event will take place Saturday, August 8 at 7pm; the event is America’s largest country music talent search. The Country Showdown begins each spring with over 450 local talent contests sponsored by country music radio stations throughout the United States. Winners advance to their respective State competitions held at leading fairs and high profile venues. Acts then compete for a $1,000 prize, the State Title and the opportunity to advance to one of five Regional Finals.

The California State Event is supported by broadcast partner Go Country 105 and will consist of five finalists who qualified from radio stations located throughout Southern California from cities such as Merced, Bakersfield, Los Angeles, and more. Marie Wise-Hawkins will make a surprise appearance at this year’s State Final Event. She is currently the reigning 2014 Country Showdown State Finals winner, and was a national finalist in last year’s competition.

The winner of the Country Showdown State Event will advance to the West Regional to vie for an all-expense-paid trip to the National Final in Nashville where they will compete for $100,000 and the coveted title of “Best New Act in Country Music.” Previous contestants in the Country Showdown include such recording artists as Garth Brooks and Martina McBride.

The competition will be held in Knott’s Berry Farm’s famous Wagon Camp and entrance to the performance is included with paid admission.
