KNOTT’S BERRY FARM TO OPEN A STARBUCKS STORE IN MARCH

Knott’s Berry Farm announced today that it will open its first Starbucks location. The 935 square foot Starbucks store will open in March 2016 in the California MarketPlace, just outside the Park’s main entrance, and will offer Starbuck’s world class coffee drinks and entrees. Knott’s follows Cedar Point, King’s Island and Canada’s Wonderland as the fourth Cedar Fair Park to open a Starbucks location at its theme park. As a themed entertainment destination, Knott’s has partnered with Starbucks to design a welcoming gathering place that evokes themes of the Knott family’s original roadside stand with the familiar, contemporary aesthetic of Starbucks stores. “At a theme park rooted in rich culinary traditions, Starbucks brings a level of quality and service to Knott’s Berry Farm that our guests have come to expect,” said Russ Knibbs, vice president of Food and Beverage Service at Knott’s Berry Farm. “The partnership with Starbucks will help us continue to bring great refreshments and dining, while delivering the very best experiences to our guests.”Just south of the new Starbucks construction site is the ongoing restoration project of Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant. The restaurant and the quick service option Chicken-To-Go closed on Monday, January 4 as construction continues in preparation for a spring 2016 reopening. To ensure Mrs. Knott’s famous fried chicken is still available during construction, a temporary Chicken-To-Go counter service dining location opened today in the retail space where Cable Car Kitchen restaurant formerly operated. Even while the restaurant’s main kitchen is being renovated, the famous fried chicken with all the fixings will continue to be prepared using Mrs. Knott’s legendary recipe at Chicken-To-Go.

The countdown to the New Year is on at Knott’s Merry Farm! With special one-night-only entertainment, mesmerizing fireworks and extended hours, plus Knott’s signature rides and attractions, Knott’s New Year’s Eve celebration is the place for guests of all ages to ring in 2016.

Knott’s Sky Cabin, towering over 200 ft. in the air, will dramatically rise to the top of the “K” tower as special lighting effects help countdown the final moments of 2015. Complete Refurbishment Underway Of Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant!

– Knott’s Berry Farm announces a complete refurbishment of Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant. Construction began November 2, 2015 and a grand reopening is planned for spring 2016. The project will refresh and preserve the original “tea room” dining room and bring cosmetic and thematic upgrades throughout the restaurant’s other dining areas.

Throughout the restaurant’s four main dining rooms and two banquet rooms, all furniture, flooring, lighting, and décor will be renovated. The large dining room to the right of the main entrance will be remodeled with a look inspired by Mrs. Knott’s kitchen pantry, as the room will be adorned with a potbelly stove and nods to Cordelia’s home kitchen, evoking themes of warmth, family, and togetherness. The main dining room accessible from the courtyard entrance will be divided into two smaller dining rooms, with a theme inspired by farmhouse motifs.

For the first time, a new outdoor seating area on the restaurant’s north side will allow guests to dine al fresco with beautiful and unique views of the MarketPlace fountain, the theme park’s Ghost Town, and the newly restored GhostRider roller coaster.

The busy kitchen that services one of the most popular restaurants in the world will also be modernized, while the culinary team carefully preserves the recipes and techniques that make the restaurant so special.

The restaurant will feature a new, welcoming lobby area, where diners who provide a cell phone number will be sent a text message when their table is ready, allowing more time and flexibility to explore the Knott’s MarketPlace or to grab a drink around the restaurant’s new full service bar, which will replace the restaurant’s Garden Room.

The restaurant will close on January 4 until the grand re-opening in spring 2016. During construction, Chicken To Go, the counter service take out dining location that serves staples of the Chicken Dinner Restaurant menu will remain open. Brunches held on the first Sunday of each month, the “Winterfest” buffets, and the seasonal “Breakfast with Santa” will not be offered in 2015.

“Walter and Cordelia Knott would be very proud of the plans for the restaurant’s renovations,” said Russ Knibbs, vice president of food and beverage for Knott’s Berry Farm. “When Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant reopens next spring, it will continue its long history of celebrating the legacy of Cordelia’s welcoming hospitality and home style service.”

New Calico Stage, Re tracked Ghostrider with new trains, and Knott’s Chicken Dinner Rentovation!

In 2016, Knott’s Berry Farm’s Ghost Town will celebrate its 75^th anniversary with two major offerings next summer. The centerpiece of the summer 2016 celebration is the interactive entertainment experience, Ghost Town Alive!, which immerses guests in new stories and adventures in the familiar town of Calico. The west is about to get even wilder when GhostRider returns from a major restoration project with all new trains that will gallop along over 4,500 feet of new wooden track.

In summer 2016, Ghost Town Alive! will allow guests young and young at heart to live the west through inventive new ways to interact with characters and environments as each day, a different story will unfold throughout all of Ghost Town. From pledging one’s allegiance to notorious bandits, to saving the day alongside courageous cowboys, guests play an active role in shaping the events of the day. Every evening, the day’s story culminates with a town wide celebration of 75 years of Calico.

Walter Knott’s love for the Wild West was evident in the attention to detail that he put into the peek-ins peppered throughout town. Next summer, select peek-ins will be transformed into authentic working establishments, and guests will be welcomed to step inside. At the Barber Shop, guests can walk in and meet Calico’s trusted barber who’s rife with town gossip.

In the Sheriff’s office, guests can try their luck at a game of cards with the sneaky Sheriff and other Calico townsfolk. Here, guests can also decide whether they join the lawmen to hunt down the bandits or choose the criminal life and end up with their face on a handmade wanted poster.

In the heart of Ghost Town, the Barn will close on April 4, and when it reopens for Ghost Town Alive!, it will have been transformed into a working horse stable where guests can visit with Calico’s friendly equestrian team.

Construction is underway on a new Calico Stage, which will open across the train tracks from its current location, in the area Screamin’ Swing formerly occupied. The stage, themed after an old abandoned mine, will feature an all-new show for summer 2016. The standing viewing area for the new stage is nearly twice as large as the current viewing area, ensuring even more guests can enjoy seasonal live entertainment. The new venue is scheduled to open in Spring of 2016.

When the new Calico Stage opens, the space that the existing stage and viewing area currently occupy will become Calico Park. Here, guests will enjoy a shady respite from the hustle and bustle of the Town, with a small stage for live performances, and twinkling lights adorning the trees after the sun sets. Calico Park is set to open in Summer 2016. Adjacent to Calico Park stands the iconic Calico Saloon, which will feature a raucous new show next summer. A new western stunt show in Wagon Camp will also debut in summer 2016. Both the Calico Saloon and Wagon Camp will close in early 2016 in for renovations and new show preparations.

Ghost Town Alive! will take interactive storytelling to new heights when it debuts next summer, and for guests really seeking to achieve some heights, they should look no further than to the return of the beloved classic wooden roller coaster, GhostRider.

Since 1998, GhostRider has been giving white-knuckle rides to even the toughest cowpokes. It still looms over Ghost Town as the longest, fastest and tallest wooden rollercoaster on the West Coast. In September 2015, work began to completely restore and preserve this classic wooden rollercoaster. The project is a partnership with Great Coasters International and includes re-profiling and a complete wooden re-tracking of the entire 4,533 ft. long track.

All of the coasters trains will be replaced with state of the art new Millennium Flyer trains designed to look like mining cars, each with gold, silver, or copper accents. As part of the construction, the mid-course brake run will be removed, allowing riders to enjoy a relentless, ride from the moment the train descends the first 108 ft. drop to the moment it returns to the station’s new, smooth magnetic brake run.

“GhostRider was the last attraction commissioned by the Knott family, and this restoration project ensures that the family’s final gift to the park will continue to thrill generations of thrill seekers to come,” said Raffi Kaprelyan, Knott’s Berry Farm’s vice president and general manager. “Seventy five years ago, Walter and Cordelia Knott created a place where guests could live out their dreams of the Wild West, and I think they’d be very proud of how it continues to resonate with guests of a new generation.”

When GhostRider re-opens, the queue will snake past Panning for Gold, which returns to its original Ghost Town home next summer. The return to its former location will allow for a more spacious panning experience, which means a more comfortable experience and better photo ops to capture the moment when a loved one strikes it rich!

In 1940, Walter Knott looked for a way to entertain and educate hungry guests waiting for hours to dine at the iconic Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant. Ghost Town was born from Walter’s passion for providing restaurant patrons with unique entertainment and fondness for Wild West. The area celebrates the California-bound pioneers that crossed the desert by covered wagon, just as Walter’s family had back in 1868. Brick by brick, building by building, the old west town of Calico came to life in 1941 and has been visited by millions for the past 75 years.

While reflecting on Ghost Town in a letter written in December 1954, Walter Knott wrote, “I [am] very proud of this place we have built. Knott’s Scary Farm Opening Night 2015

Opening night is always fun and exciting at Knott’s Scary Farm; the event that Fans, Haunters, and the creative team behind Scary Farm look forward to all year long! This year The Fright Zone and I did what we could with what time we had, no worries we both have passes and will be back soon enough! So we will cover what we got to see on opening night, so be sure to look out for future reviews.

We got in 30 mins late so we missed the opening ceremony, one thing I noticed right away that it was not as crazy crowed like last year’s opening nights, I thought with maybe Ghostrider being under refurb that would not help with crowd control but we all know where everyone was at… Infected and Paranormal INC. Sadly we didn’t get to Infected opening night, sorry Jon we will soon 😉 However, let’s just start with Paranormal INC., because OMG!

Paranormal INC.

This has got to be the maze of the year for me, even Mary (AKA: The Fright Zone) thought so too. One of the things that I love most was it had a pre-show with back story and it was full of surprises!

The sets are amazing, the effects are superb, lighting, sound and everything is just OMG! I’ve never seen anything like it, plus the backstory was so cool, so I’m not going to spoil much 😉 But you need to make this one on your must do list while at Scary Farm, get yourself a Fright Lane so you can go over and over and not miss a THING! It’s so amazing I was smiling so much I cried! 😉 The scares were on point classic Haunted House style, which is what I love! Exclent work to Jon Cook, the cast and the team behind the production! You are all Amazing!!!!

My Bloody Clementine

The mine ride this year has a Haunt overlay with live Monsters since Invasion Below from 2011!

It was nice to see the mine ride with monsters in it again, last year the Mine Ride went under major refurbishment; this made it even better for haunt overlays with a new sound system and new lighting! I know some were worried about Knott’s putting monsters in the mine ride again after the major work done, but, from what it looks like monsters are only near emergency exits and have harnesses on them to protect them from falling onto the tracks! Our first run through was not so good, we got stopped halfway through, but got to try it again! It’s nice,dark and foggy inside; some things you could not see so well, maybe just first night kinks, but never the less it’s a great atddishion to scary farm this season! It reminds me of classic Knott’s Scary Farm (1990s) lets hope maybe they could do something like this on the log ride, simple yet effective! All in all we loved it, great work Daniel and the team! By the way… we were stuck on the mine ride for a total of 30 min. therefore taking up time that we could’ve used to go see The Hanging, other mazes and Infected.

The Dead of Winter

This maze was cool, we did got to try out the Key Room and it was full of jump scares! The sets looked great, the space was used very well, they are not using the whole Boardwalk ballroom because they are using the right side for Knott’s Spooky Farm! It was cool to see frozen bodies in the floor, reminds me of a few old mazes from the Halloween Haunt days. Let’s not forget how nice and cold it is in there, it’s the coldest maze at Scary Farm! It’s very White and Bright in there but that doesn’t mean its not scary 😉 Don’t be fooled thinking your safe in the Snow 😉 Great to see another maze by Gus, nice work everyone! By the way, Gus, Mary LOVED the spiders and the Snow Queen 3:)

Voodoo: Order of The Serpent

The key room is all new so go check it out, we missed it so next time 😉

Voodoo last year was one of my favorites with jump scares, choose your own adventure and the amazing New Orleans Voodoo theme.

This year a lot has changed, instead of choose your own adventure, it’s just a flow through.

The maze had lots of classic jump scares that most haunted attractions don’t do anymore. The ending is extended and makes more sense now! It’s a great maze, I’m glad they changed it up and made it a lot longer! Great work Jon and the team! Mary still Thinks you are an awesome designer. 😉 *Mary told me to write this and to add the winky face with it* LOL!

Trick or Treat

This maze has been here since 2012, but it got a much needed make over to renovate it and making it longer! Funny part about the night was this maze scared us the most, we jumped multiple times and it started before we walked into the door hahaha, the monsters were on point! They came at us left and right making us jump! Be sure to go check out the Green Witch’s house! Great Job Team!

Pinocchio Unstrung

This maze was one of my favs last year so we gave it a go again. We tried the Key Room, it was funny and scary! The only thing that sucks about the key rooms is you can’t always hear the talent talking; maybe a mic and sound system for the key rooms wouldn’t be a bad idea in the future. I liked how they were miked up in Paranormal INC.

Not too much has changed about Pinnochio, but the monsters are always full of energy! Looks like the cricket at the end got more scary, Mary absolutely loves that Cricket 😉 Great job team! 🙂 See you again soon!

Elvira’s Asylum

I wasn’t too thrilled about Elvira’s show last season. But WE LOVED this one; the dancing and acrobatics are amazing, the costumes are perfect and the sets are perfect! The show is funny with lots of boob jokes 😉 Great job to the crew and team behind the show we will definitely be back to see Elvira’s Asylum! Mary would like to add that she absolutely loved the show except the music to the arial preference of the Nympho inmate with the ear driving dubstep.

Knott’s Hotel Pre-Scare Dinner

We had dinner at the Hotel before we went to Scary Farm, it’s creepily decorated, dark, with spooky background music, and monsters lurking around. Plus the food is good, it’s Knott’s so of course the food is great. All you can eat buffet for $24.99 each, you also get early entry to Knott’s Scary Farm! Mary would like to add that she loves this experience and it is soooooooo Delicious and wonderfully spooky; she loves how the monsters are there to interact with the guests. She would also like to add that it is important to go to Scary Farm with a full stomach so you have the energy to be chased by the Street Monsters around the park without being in a bad mood of being hungry.

That’s all we got to cover this visit! I would like to add that we did get a chance to see “The Deadly Seven” lurk around the scare zones! They are a creepy addition this year; at first I didn’t know what to think about them but once you see them lurking around the fog… it’s creepy 😉 We will be back to cover anything we missed and the Scare Zones mainly so keep an EYE out and thanks for reading! School is back in session, crowds are much lighter now. We now are starting to see Scary Farm deco though out Ghost Town. This year there are a lot of pumpkins, Im assuming that will also tie into the new Knott’s Spooky Farm (Weekend Daytime Halloween Fun) in Oct.

The Holiday Weekend Is The Last Chance to Take In Knott’s Summertime Entertainment

Knott’s Berry Farm offers special Labor Day weekend entertainment and family fun for a variety of ages and interests, including a spectacular Labor Day Sunday fireworks show. On September 6, the Park’s skyline will glow with a brilliant fireworks show at 10pm – TIP: the best view in the Park is in Boardwalk and Calico Square. Guests can also take a journey on the spectacular new 4D interactive ride, Voyage to the Iron Reef; stroll through the Park’s Old West Ghost Town® or hang with the PEANUTS gang in a fresh Camp Snoopy, the land of high sierra fun!
There’s live entertainment everywhere you turn. The Labor Day weekend, Sept. 4 – Sept. 7, is the last time guest can enjoy the following line-up of can’t miss shows and entertainment:

· Salsa Bands, nothing says a fiesta like a dance party created by some of Orange County’s most popular salsa bands.

· Back by popular demand, The Big Fat Steve Band – The Kings of Kool is a fun, exciting dance band with a swingin’ beat. Enjoy the live musicality of rockabilly, swing and classic sounds. The only thing missing are your dance moves.

· Camp-goers will love Charlie Brown’s Happy Campers performed in the newly renovated Camp Snoopy Theatre. Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, their friend JT, and the world’s most popular beagle, Snoopy, will take the stage in a show that’s sure to make an outdoorsman out of anybody!

· Calico Saloon Cancan Show, because what’s a Saloon without a show? Don’t miss this revered show for some good old’ fashioned barroom fun.

· Ghost Town is alive with townsfolk who will put you smack dab in the middle of the Wild West. New residents have put down stakes recently… Clem Culpepper, the ever hopeful gold miner, Ma & Pa Shine, our resident moonshiners & Nathan Quickly, the Pony Express Agent, and the rest of the Calico Townsfolk.

Knott’s Labor Day weekend celebration is included with regular daytime admission. Theme Park hours are: Friday, September 4 10am – 8pm; Saturday, September 5 10am – 10pm; Sunday, September 6 10am – 11pm; Monday, September 7 10am – 8pm. On Aug. 26th 2015 Knott’s Berry Farm hosted the 3rd annual Scary Farm Passholder Preview! This year it was a little later than the last few years, also it was a lot hotter, most passholders came early to get their wristbands then stayed away from the heat but few of the hardcore Haunt fans queued up all day to be the first ones inside!

Haunt fans even dressed up for the occasion even though it was 92 degrees out!

Now on to the show, Jeff Tucker from park entreatment hosted the show, he was brought in like Hannible haha! They also places 4 envelopes under random seats with two free tickets to Knott’s Scary Farm!

Lets talk about Scare Zones!

Ghost Town Streets has been expanded no safe place to hide in Ghost Town anymore, more monsters more Fog, more Screams! My fav Scare Zone 😉

Ghost Town Streets is the original and largest, most terrifying scare zone that started it all. Bands of half-human, half-animal monsters prowl the streets and inhabit the fog, and beware the notoriously startling sliders, who lunge from in every fog-filled corner of the land. Fiesta De Los Muertos fuses dance music, colorful costumes, and larger than life stilt walkers in a dance party scare zone. It’s the ultimate late night celebration of Dia de los Muertos. On the Boardwalk clowns crave your undying attention in the CarnEVIL scare zone.

Returning Mazes!

Black Magic: Houdini’s vengeful spirt continues to wreak havoc on the Faux Theater, where the veil between the living and the dead is severed. Houdini’s ghost comes alive and ushers a host of demonic illusions to play tricks on anyone who intrudes, only to finally meet Houdini in a show-stopping finale. Back for its third year, Black Magic is one of the most popular mazes at Scary Farm.

Forevermore: Follow the destruction of the “Forevermore Killer,” one haunting tale after another, as the slayer makes his way through one of the longest mazes ever created in Knott’s Scary Farm’s history. With a Skeleton Key, guests can witness the work of the Forevermore Killer firsthand.

The Gunslinger’s Grave: A Blood Moon Rises: Deadly howls and a full blood moon mark your impending doom as werewolves overrun the crime stricken old west town. Walk in the bloody footsteps of a betrayed and left for dead gunslinger on his path of retribution against the Skinwalkers.

Pinocchio Unstrung: Years have passed since the blue fairy denied him his final wish, but Pinocchio has returned with an army of murderous marionettes intent on killing his former masters. Meander your way through the carnage-riddled village and an all new sinful Pleasure Island and Skeleton Key Room. Revenge comes with no strings attached.

The Tooth Fairy: This twisted tooth fairy steals more than just baby teeth as he drags his victims out their bedroom window and into a world of deranged dentistry. Unbelievable special effects include a blackout room through which guests must feel their way out, a disorienting x-ray strobe light room, and new this year, an all-new Skeleton Key room…says aahhh.

Trick-or-Treat: Take a brave step forward and ring the witch’s doorbell…trick or treat, which will it be? After surviving her grisly welcome, wander into the Green Witch’s never before seen potion room and bewitched attic. But don’t leave too soon; you’re the special guest at the Green Witch’s deadly dinner party where she and her menacing Tricksters await your arrival.

Voodoo – Order of the Serpent: The haunting legend of Papa Legba continues as guests follow him on his foreboding journey to conjure the serpent demon goddess in the outskirts of New Orleans. Trudge cautiously through the cursed swamps of the Deep South, where creatures search the murky bogs for their next bloody sacrifice and demons curse the innocent with Voodoo hexes. Guests who are brave enough to venture through the Skeleton Key room may fall prey to a defiled ritual.

Infected Returns even better this time! New Guns, and more Zombies! I love Infected.

Back by overwhelming demand, guests can enlist to fight the zombie apocalypse in an all-out war against the undead in the interactive experience, Special Ops: Infected – Patient Zero. In 2014, the ambitious new attraction was the first of its kind in North America and in 2015 continues to be the largest infestation of zombies nationwide. In 2015, the highly sought-after attraction will include more blood thirsty zombies, new missions, brand new high-tech laser guns, and more.

Special Ops: Infected – Patient Zero seamlessly integrates interactive gaming technology with an immersive mountainous landscape, delivering a breakthrough interactive haunted experience that is as terrifying as it is challenging. Missions lead by brave Squad Leaders will take guests through a variety of wilderness terrains, including the unpredictable barrel bridges across the rushing river, through the dark caverns, and through mysterious backwoods. Groups must work together to fend off zombies and complete various missions before time runs out. Six acres of the theme park is now home to mutinous, scream-inducing zombies, and the time has come for a harrowing Special Ops survival mission (limited spaces available).

Elvira, the legendary Mistress of the Dark, returns to Knott’s Scary Farm in a spectacular all new show, Elvira’s Asylum, featuring insane dance and comedy performances.

In honor of Elvira’s return to Knott’s Scary Farm, the Nautilus merchandise shop will temporarily become Elvira’s Boo-tique, where fans can purchase stylish apparel and sinfully fun products featuring and inspired by the Legendary Mistress of the Dark. Each night, a limited number of guests who spend at least $50 at Elvira’s Boo-tique during Knott’s Scary Farm will get a chance to meet Elvira between performances of Elvira’s Asylum and collect her signature on one of the purchased items. Knott’s Scary Farm is the only place Elvira can be seen this Halloween season, and Elvira’s Boo-tique offers fans a once in a lifetime meet and greet opportunity!

The Hanging®: A live stage show in Calico Square irreverently looks back at the year’s pop culture with killer comedy. Notorious for its special effects, pyrotechnics and high-flying stunts, The Hanging is a no-holds-barred assault on pop culture’s most infamous moments of the past year. A must see parody!

Time for the NEW STUFF! The Paranormal INC. sounds like it will win me over this year however My Bloody Clementine…. Mine ride with live monsters again, so excited!

PARANORMAL, INC. – Case #1 – The Haunting of Hayden Hill (New for 2015): Featuring high flying aerial stunts and scares, in the groundbreaking new maze, guests investigate a haunted hospital where the patients were tortured for decades by deranged doctors and nurses. Demonic spirits of the murdered victims have been detected throughout the mysterious halls, while evil medical staff hunt for new patients to torture.

My Bloody Clementine (New for 2015): There is no tale more vicious and vengeful than that of My Bloody Clementine. Take a grim ride through the Calico Mine where Clementine and her father were brutally murdered centuries ago. Their wretched spirits roam the tunnels in search of those who killed them. This year the ride through maze will feature live monsters out for revenge at the train track’s every turn.

The Dead of Winter (New for 2015): Escape the icy grasp of the chilling Snow Queen in the all new maze. Backed by with a ravenous beastly army of resurrected Viking warriors, she is hell bent on avenging her beloved family’s murder, and preys upon any unsuspecting visitors who enter the borders of her icy domain. Guests with a Skeleton Key will have the opportunity to unlock a bone chilling surprise.

(New for 2015) Prowling the darkest corners of Knott’s midways and scare zones, the Green Witch and her Deadly 7 is a sadistic crew guilty of more terror than meets the eye. Each of the monsters represent one of the seven deadly sins and make terrifying surprise appearances throughout the park each night.

I must say Im excited to be visiting The Fog every week, The new Mazes and the deadly 7 sound creepy! Can’t wait less than 4 weeks to go, get yourself a Knott’s Scary Farm Season Pass so you can go every night!
