“KNOTT’S BERRY FARM KICKS OFF 4TH YEAR PARTNERSHIP WITH SUSAN G. KOMEN ORANGE COUNTY”

Knott’s Continues Its Annual Promotion With a Memorable Campaign, Special “Pink Tickets” and Exclusive Merchandise in Support of Breast Cancer Survivors, Survivor Families

Knott’s Berry Farm and Susan G. Komen Orange County are partnering for a fourth consecutive year to raise money for breast cancer awareness, services and research by offering a special “Pink Ticket” and limited edition “pink” event t-shirts from January 9 through March 5, 2017.

The park will turn pink in support of the promotion with specially-themed décor, pink lighting at special attractions and themed merchandise exclusively available at the park.

New this year, Knott’s Berry Farm is hosting a special experience to honor and celebrate survivors and their families who have been affected by breast cancer, with a special event called #ScreamAgainstBreastCancer in January. Knott’s will invite a group of survivors and their family members to ride Knott’s tallest thrill ride, Supreme Scream, for a one-of-a-kind moment-in-time that will launch guests over 252 feet in the air. While suspended at the highest point, survivors and their families will scream against all of the challenges and pain but most importantly to celebrate their victories and the great triumph of overcoming breast cancer. The memorable moment will be documented through GoPro© cameras mounted to the ride, capturing the powerful and dotting moment of emotion from those who have been directly affected by the disease. Supreme Scream will be lit pink starting Valentine’s Day in support of the partnership and will continue to shine across the Buena Park skyline each night for the duration of the promotion.

The promotion will provide guests with the opportunity to enjoy Knott’s world-class entertainment, attractions and special themed “pink” décor, while supporting a great cause. Special rides like Supreme Scream, Calico Mine Ride and other landmarks inside of the theme park will glow pink in honor of the promotion, and limited edition, custom designed “pink” t-shirts will be available for purchase.

“Knott’s Berry Farm has successfully raised over $360,000 during the previous promotions in partnership with Susan G. Komen Orange County. I am immensely proud of what both organizations have achieved as a team. Our park is committed to doing its part in raising funds and awareness to end the fight against breast cancer,” said Jon Storbeck, General Manager of Knott’s Berry Farm. “Every contribution makes an impact and with each donation we get one step closer to our goal. We are looking forward to coming together with Komen Orange County once again to advance women’s health and launch such a great campaign in support of all those who have been personally affected by breast cancer.”

The partnership, which originally began in 2013, will once again align two prominent organizations in raising awareness and vital funds for local breast health and breast cancer services for women and men. In previous years, the theme park also provided complimentary life-saving breast exams and mammograms to underserved and underinsured women via the Knott’s sponsored Alinea mobile mammography van, which will return this year to continue providing health screenings for women in the community.

Starting January 9, guests can purchase “Pink Tickets” for theme park admission at http://www.knotts.com. A portion of the proceeds from ticket and t-shirt sales will benefit Komen Orange County. Follow and join the conversation by using #ScreamAgainstBreastCancer and #KnottsPink.

CALIFORNIA MISSIONS MAKE THEIR LONG AWAITED RETURN TO KNOTT’S BERRY FARM!

Knott’s Berry farm announced that the beloved scale models of California’s historic Missions have returned to the park on Wednesday, November 30. This project reflects Knott’s continued appreciation and preservation of California’s rich history.
img_1056wtmk
Scaled models of the original California Missions boarder the same midway between Silver Bullet and the south entrance of Fiesta Village, as it did previously for many years. Twenty-year veteran of Knott’s Berry Farm’s woodshop and current Knott’s craftsman, Bob Weir, has been meticulously restoring the missions for over three years, for a new generation of guests to appreciate.
img_1031wtmk
“Knott’s Berry Farm prides itself in celebrating California’s rich, living history, and the California Mission models hold as much educational value as they do sentimental value for many of our guests,” said Knott’s general manager, Jon Storbeck. “We know that grade school curriculums in California include lessons on the California Missions, so we’re pleased that Knott’s Adventures in Education programs will allow students a unique and authentic learning experience that can only be found at Knott’s.”
img_1054wtmk
In addition to the return of the historic missions, Knott’s is hosting its Early California History Day on March 15, 2017, in which students will have the opportunity to visit and tour the displayed models within the park, as well as have the opportunity to display a mission of their own. One homemade mission model will be selected to represent an individual school and enter into the California Missions competition. The winning models will be awarded special Knott’s Berry Farm prizes.

History
In the 1950’s as Knott’s Berry Farm grew in popularity, Walter Knott needed a way to keep park guests off of the stagecoach trail between the train depot and the northern end of the park for safety reasons. In keeping with the spirit of Knott’s – attractions both entertain and educate – Walter commissioned Leon Bayard de Volo to create scale models of all 21 California Missions. The missions were displayed in lit cases along the midway running between the Calico Railroad and what is now the south entrance to Fiesta Village.
img_1046wtmk
The area was named El Camino Real (“The King’s Highway”), in honor of the actual California highway that connects all 21 missions. On the North and South ends of El Camino Real stood two full-size double-arch “ruins,” which were built and installed at Knott’s in 1955 and 1956, respectively. Today, the double-arch ruin that originally marked the entrance to Mission row near the train station can be found near the Ghost Town General Store and the Indian Trails Stage. The northern most double-arch is still standing in its original location, behind Wave Swinger in Fiesta Village.

Observe replicas of the historic California Missions such as:

· Mission Santa Barbara
· Mission San Gabriel
· Mission Santa Cruz
· Mission San Diego
· Mission San Buenaventura
· Mission San Carlos Borromėo
· Mission San Luis Obispo
· Mission San Antonio
· Mission Santa Clara
· Mission La Purisima Concepción
· Mission San Miguel Arcángel
· Mission San Luis Rey
· Mission Santa Ines
· And more

A 2017 Knott’s Season Pass is the best way to experience the historic scale models with the family. Up to six guests at a time will descend down navigating twists and turns and unexpected drops. The minimum height requirement is 40 inches and 40 – 48 inches must be accompanied by a responsible person. Knott’s Scary Farm Opening Weekend Review and Tips! 2016

Knott’s Scary Farm is finally here, we spent the first 3 nights taking it all in. We’re going to talk about tips, new mazes, experiences and more!

We have spent the whole weekend at the Knott’s Hotel, which was refurbished little over a year ago and it’s the best way to enjoy opening weekend or any night of Scary Farm! They have Scary Farm hotel packages that can gets you a T-Shirt, Fright Lane, Fast Lane, Pre-Scare Dinner at the Hotel, and tickets to the event! The Pre-Scare Dinner is a great way to start the night, you get to visit with the monsters that will end up scaring you later on in the night 😉 Also, you get to take photos with them, and you get into Scary Farm 30 mins early! We recommend going to the backstage mazes first, or whichever maze you would like to go to first. Right now, Shadowlands and Infected are the most popular, Paranormal INC.  still brings in a crowd.

Pass Holders can also get discounts for the Scary Farm Hotel Packages visit https://www.knotts.com/places-to-stay for all the info and reservations.

Tip on the Skeleton Key rooms: We recommend visiting those first, they can get crowed on busy nights and the rooms take time to reset. The rest of the mazes will not be a problem since you have “Fright Lane”.

img_4063

Tip for guests not using Fright Lane: Right now Infected and Shadowlands are the most popular we recommend checking those out first. They are AMAZING!!!

img_5154

Tip for Guests that want to ride the new Ghostrider: The line can get pretty long, lots of people that visit Scary Farm only go to it during Scary Farm. So, try to hit it up at the end of the night because the ride still operates past closing for the remaining line that is there before they rope off the line at closing.

FEAR VR

An upcharge virtual reality experience, Mary and I got a change to check it out the night before opening Scary Farm. I was scared lol I don’t like Hospitals very much and…. I don’t want to give out too much but I would defiantly try it out. Its located in Boardwalk (CarnEvil) at The Ballroom near the Log Ride, they have a both set up across from it, its first come first serve so if you want to do this and you don’t have Fright Lanes get to this first

Shadowlands

Hello…. This is Mary putting in my two cents on my favorite new maze of 2016! For many years I have always wanted to see Geishas be incorporated with anything horror… I LOVE Japanese art, culture, history, and above all sushi… mmmmmmmm. LOL, but seriously, this maze is amazing! It does the Japanese horror folklore justice and it is so damn beautiful and rich with detail. There is so many innovative scares, use of technology and the cast is on point! I also love the preshow! It is a beautiful death on the battlefield 3:) You should get yourself over there first thing in the evening because the line gets crazy!! This is a NOT TO MISS attraction at Knott’s Scary Farm! Props to Jon Cooke and his team for putting together this fantastic maze!

Infected

This season of Infected is now a walk through maze and it is amazing, OMG!!! I’ve been a fan of Infected since year one and this is amazingly put together, the details are great, the soundtrack is great and lighting… it’s all wow. It’s full of Easter eggs and scary surprises, we got a sneak peek at it the other night but there were no monsters inside and we have yet to see it with the monsters, but we will soon and I’m sure it’s even more amazing. Props to Jon Cooke and the Team involved. Ya’ll are Amazing J Tim.

The Red Barn

Really enjoyed this one, reminded me of Slaughter House J I like the idea of Hill Billy Red Neck Cannibals very scary plus the maze was done at The Wilderness Dance Hall which already looks like a red barn… also when your inside if you look up, it still looks like a barn 😉 We love the twisted minds of Daniel and Gus.

P.S. from Mary….. Fog Rainbows 😉

We will continue to give you tips during Scary Farm and our weekend Video will be up soon.

Knott’s Scary Farm, the largest and most haunting Halloween event in Southern California, has unveiled the 13 haunted attractions that will terrify guests when the event returns for 24 horrifying nights, September 22 – October 31.

New Mazes

Four all-new nightmarish haunted attractions will debut this year; each featuring unearthly surprises, ghoulish monsters and frightening legends that come to life as you step inside.

Shadow Lands (New for 2016): A fulfilling life ensures a soul safe passage into eternity, but what happens to the souls of soldiers slain in battle? Enter the hair-raising Shadow Lands maze and fight off demon samurais whose souls are cursed to rot within the depths of purgatory. Guests will embark on a quest through a sacred shrine, an ancient Japanese temple and into the midst of the shadow lands.

Shadowlands

Red Barn (New for 2016): Take a trip to a blood-soaked barn filled with carnivorous animals seeking to prey on human flesh in the Red Barn gore maze. Legend has it the farmer who owns the barn was transformed into a heinous creature that sends his sadistic sons to ensure his legacy. None dare enter the barn, for those who enter never escape.

The Red Barn

Standalone Skeleton Key Rooms (New for 2016): For the first time, Knott’s Scary Farm will feature standalone Skeleton Key Rooms that are independent from mazes. The four Skeleton Key Rooms will each feature a unique story and theme delivering unparalleled scares, interactive secrets and terrifying surprises:

Visions: Guests must investigate the Green Witch Museum in Ghost Town where it is not the building that is haunted, but the various items contained within. Using a Phantom Finder augmented reality device, guests will be able to identify and witness paranormal activity connected to items from the Sarah Marshall Witch Trial.

160 Acres of Scare Zones

Knott’s Scary Farm is far more than a collection of haunted attractions.  Every night monsters spill out onto the streets and turn theme park midways into murderous scare zones.  From the world famous Ghost Town Streets to the Boardwalk area filled with evil clowns, there’s nowhere to hide in Knott’s Scary Farm.

Ghost Town Streets is the original and largest, most terrifying scare zone that started it all.   Bands of half-human, half-animal monsters prowl the streets and inhabit the fog, while the notoriously startling sliders, lunge from every fog-filled corner of the land.  Fiesta De Los Muertos fuses dance music, colorful costumes, and larger than life stilt walkers in a dance party scare zone.  It’s the ultimate late night celebration of Dia de los Muertos.  On the Boardwalk, clowns crave your undying attention in the CarnEVIL scare zone. New this season, the Hollow scare zone will terrorize guests as the ominous Headless horseman prowls the fog-filled streets along with his army of the undead, treacherously blending into the shadowy night as they frighten all whom they encounter.

unspecified

Knott’s Berry Farm announces an exciting expansion, renovations and new additions coming to Knott’s Soak City Water Park next summer.

Orange County’s largest water park will debut two water slide towers featuring exhilarating attractions geared for families and thrill seekers. Shore Break will tower over seven stories and offer six different thrilling water slide experiences. Four of the slides on the 60-foot tall tower will start with guests climbing inside an Aqua-Launch chamber where they will wait anxiously for the floor to drop out from underneath their feet, sending them into a high-speed, almost vertical free fall through a series of flat loops and S-curves in a translucent flume. Shore Break will also feature dueling tube slides that will zip riders through an enchanting series of drops and turns. The height requirements for Shore Break slides are 48 inches. The Wedge slide tower will take the location of the current Pacific Spin and will be an open air family raft ride. Up to six guests at a time will descend down navigating twists and turns and surprise drops. Height requirement for The Wedge is 48 inches or 40 inches when accompanied by a supervising companion. Guests will be able to experience both water slide towers when Knott’s Soak City Water Park opens for the summer season in May 2017.

The expansion project will also include updated shaded seating areas, cabanas and a remodeled Longboard’s Grill to the water park. Construction is set to begin on September 12 and a grand-reopening is scheduled for summer 2017.
