On the outskirts of Calico, a new expedition in an uncharted territory awaits eager explorers with the debut of the park’s newest attraction, Calico River Rapids. Opening on Friday, May 17th, the new white water raft ride takes explorers on a search for new land where indigenous wildlife, treacherous roaring rapids, dynamic water effects plus a variety of wild surprises will be encountered along the way. The attraction comes to life with new animatronics and special effects designed and manufactured by Garner Holt Productions, Inc.

Knott’s Invites Guests to Play in the World of the Iconic PEANUTS Gang During the Newly Extended “Knott’s PEANUTS Celebration”
The multi-weekend celebration features PEANUTS-inspired comic strip photo ops, new entertainment, family-friendly activities and festive park-wide décor, weekends starting January 26 – March 10, 2019
Buena Park, Calif. – Knott’s Berry Farm is starting 2019 with two additional weekends of the Knott’sPEANUTS Celebration, an event uniquely dedicated to celebrating the beloved PEANUTS Gang. Knott’sinvites guests to step into the iconic world of Charles M. Schulz comic strips as the characters take over the entire theme park with special activities for everyone to enjoy. The newly-extended celebration will take place on weekends beginning January 26th through March 10th plus President’s day, February 18th. The limited time event will welcome fans of all ages to join in on the fun by introducing new ways for guests to play and interact with the PEANUTS Gang throughout the park. The celebration includes interactive character experiences, new festive PEANUTS inspired décor, more vibrant comic strip photo opportunities, live shows, festive merchandise, and deliciously themed-treats.
The celebration will have plenty of surprises hidden around every corner. One-of-a-kind photo opportunities will be available throughout the park allowing guests to step inside a PEANUTS comic strip for a unique and shareable memory. The vibrant décor will include full-size comic strip props like CharlieBrown’s kites and his renowned thought bubbles which will adorn the park’s pathways. Guests will havethe chance to meet with the beloved PEANUTS characters throughout the day as the characters appear at unexpected locations for personal interactions.
Camp Snoopy Theater will debut the all-new Space Beagle show featuring Charlie Brown and Lucy, asthe world’s famous beagle becomes the first dog on the moon. It’s out of this world fun for the wholefamily. Also in Camp Snoopy, the Grand Sierra Railroad invites kids to celebrate with the PEANUTS Gang as they head to the Beagle Bonanza in this fun ride overlay.
The PEANUTS inspired festivities will continue at the Bird Cage Theatre as the park offers an experience that gives both the young and the young at heart a lesson on how to draw their favorite PEANUTS characters. The PEANUTS Sketch School will include our resident art teacher who will provide step by step instructions on how to draw the perfect PEANUTS masterpiece.
Franklin and Linus are on a Western escapade as they transform into cowboys in the PEANUTS Cowboy Jamboree at Calico Park. The boys are looking to challenge guests with some of the rootiniest, tootinestgames in Calico. Also in Ghost Town, everyone’s favorite messy pal, Pig Pen will be joining the rest of the PEANUTS Gang as he hosts a special meetup at the Livery Stables with some of his favorite animalfriends. The celebration will also add a brand new overlay to one of the park’s tallest attractions. SkyCabin will be donning a festive overlay as an homage to the smallest member of the PEANUTS Gang, bytransforming into Woodstock’s Bird’s-Eye View. Guests will be seated on Woodstock’s nest as theloveable yellow bird takes those aboard on a breathtaking journey above the entire PEANUTS Celebration.
The celebration continues at the Calico Mine Stage where the PEANUTS characters have two musical surprises for guests. During the day Sally and Schroder will host a retrospect of music in The Music GoesRound and Round where they’ll have the audience dancing in the aisles. At nightfall, the stage willtransform into a musical extravaganza as the park hosts Woodstock’s Musical Festival. The musicalevent will feature the Peanuts Gang joined by the family-friendly indie band The Jelly of the Month Club, performing a high energy rock concert for the whole family. While visiting Fiesta Village guests canuncover an experience that is guaranteed to make everyone dance with the park’s first ever, Discotecade Silencio or also known as a silent disco. The fun begins with guests strapping on a set of headphones and enjoying some upbeat tunes. The party will be hosted by Snoopy’s brother Spike. Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort will bring guests “into the light” as part of this year’s Halloween Horror Nights events featuring terrifying new mazes inspired by Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures’ (MGM) iconic supernatural horror film, Poltergeist, beginning September 14.
Directed by Tobe Hooper and produced by Steven Spielberg, Poltergeist garnered critical and consumer success when it first premiered in 1982. Characterized as one of the scariest films of all time, this groundbreaking movie paved the way for a new era of supernatural ghost stories that will come to life for the first time ever at Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights. This living representation of the film will take guests into some of its most iconic scenes and encounter memorable characters that spawned their first true nightmares.
The mazes will lure guests to the Freeling family house built atop a cemetery where malicious ghosts threaten the lives within. From the underground graveyard to ghostly apparitions, guests will come face to face with infamous scenes from the film, including the iconic flickering TV screen, menacing Beast from beyond and pool filled with floating corpses. As guests cross into the ‘light,’ they will find themselves surrounded by a surreal landscape of vanishing walls, floating furniture and a creepy clown with a menacing smile. In a rush against time, guests will be forced to make it back to the world of the living or forever be trapped…
Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights is the ultimate Halloween event. For more than 25 years, guests from around the world have visited Halloween Horror Nights in Hollywood and Orlando to become victims inside their own horror film. We had our first ever ride on a pendulum, and it happens to be the world’s tallest and fastest. Only at Six Flags Magic Mountain. The surrounding area is now called “Boardwalk.” The area is nicely re-painted and themed to the Craziness 😉 of CraZanity. The ride packs a punch!!! So much so that I ran out of saliva towards the end. You pick up so much speed its crazy, the air time is really really fun, we totally didn’t expect it. Great addition to the park, nice break from roller coaster during your visit 😉

July 12th Six Flags Magic Mountain, the undisputed “Thrill Capital of the World,” today debuted CraZanity, the world’s tallest pendulum ride. At a record- breaking 170-feet in the air, the massive giant disk reaches speeds up to 75 miles-per-hour, as it whips back and forth — higher and higher giving riders a staggering view of the world below them.
“Six Flags is known world-wide for the biggest and best thrills bar none and the record-breaking CraZanity ride delivers a crazy, high adrenaline experience very different from anything else we have in our unparalleled thrill ride arsenal,” said Park President, Neal Thurman. “With 100 extra operating days, we are now open every single day which greatly expands our travel industry opportunities and allows us to better leverage the vast population of 24 million Southern California residents.”
The new 365-day operating calendar enables the Los Angeles-based theme park to work extensively with the destination travel markets. Southern California is a noted theme park mecca, welcoming more than 47 million visitors annually. Six Flags now has an operating schedule on par with all other theme parks in Southern California.
The park has done an extensive renovation of the Boardwalk area with new theming and attractions. Highlights include:

National Fried Chicken Day may have been on July 6th but you can eat Mrs. Knott’s Famous Fried Chicken any day of the year since 1934!
Before there was the Colonel, or chicken and waffles, there was a Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant, in the middle of a berry farm in Buena Park, California.
The history of Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant started in June 1934 when Cordelia Knott served the first fried chicken dinner meal for 65 cents each on the land that is today known as Knott’s Berry Farm. To make ends meet during the Great Depression, Cordelia served these chicken dinners on her best wedding china. The success of the chicken dinners was immediate and by 1940, visitors were standing in line for hours to try Cordelia’s famous fried chicken.
Mrs. Knott’s signature fried chicken dinner meal continues to be served with its family-style dining that includes deliciously herb-seasoned fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, tossed green salad, cherry rhubarb, kernel corn, freshly-made buttermilk biscuits with butter and boysenberry preserve; and a slice of Mrs. Knott’s scrumptious boysenberry pie for dessert. Each meal is freshly prepared by the Knott’s culinary team with the freshest ingredients. Today the kitchen serves an average of 1,000 chicken meals per day and serves a grand total of 1.5 million guests per year.
